Floral Ruffle Cushion

I have been asked to make a ruffle cushion to match an ottoman I had upholstered a few weeks ago. Making a cushion cover was totally new to me, so was the ruffle part of it ! Anyway, I found an interesting video that explains very clearly how to add a ruffle to a cushion. Click here to see it.

On m'a demande de confectionner un coussin a frou frou pour coordonner avec un ottoman que j'avais retapisse il y a quelques semaines. Je n'avais jamais fait de coussin, encore moins a frou frou ! After doing some research on the net, I found out that to work out the length of the ruffle strip, it is acceptable to add all the edges of the pillow and multiply that measurement times 1.5 for thick fabrics or times 2 for thinner fabrics. With an edge measuring 40cm, I would need 320cm of fabric for the ruffle. I actually used 220cm of thin fabric for it. The ruffle strip was 13cm wide before sewing. Check out the result :

Apres avoir fait de la recherche sur internet, j'ai decouvert que pour calculer la longueur du frou frou, il est courant d'ajouter les quatre cotes du coussin et de multiplier ce chiffre par 1.5 pour les tissus epais ou par 2 pour les tissus plus fins. Avec un cote mesurant 40cm, j'aurai eu besoin de 320cm de tissu pour le frou frou. J'ai en fait utilise 220cm de tissu. La bande utilisee pour le frou frou faisait 13cm de large une fois coupee.
